Charleston, SC Sept 26 - Oct 1

We reserved a site in the Lake Aire RV Park.  It is about 12 miles from Charleston.  The park sits about 1000 off the road.  You drive through a dense woods, before you come to the office.  The park manager apologized for all of the water.  She said it had rained a lot in tbe past two days.  She did not mention that it had rained for 20 out of the last 25 days!  After we checked in, we had to drive about another half mile to get to the sites.  They had scoped out a good site for us before we arrived  The sites were not concrete, and the water had done a number on many of the sites.  We pulled in, got level, set up and immediately moved the truck out of the water in front of the RV.  The workers were Johnny-on-the-spot and came with their bob cat and gravel to make a usable driveway for us.  A big motorhome came I  right behind us and set up across the road from us.  They are an older couple from Palm Springs, George and Barbara.  They were really concerned about all of the water and all of the love bugs flying around.  Seems it is mating season for this particular breed of bug.  They are everywhere.  I don't think we will be sitting outside much here.

There is a nice lake in the park, and there are a lot of ducks roaming around. They are the oddest looking ducks, almost looks like a cross between a turkey and a duck.  You be the judge:

We took a ride into Charleston early on Saturday morning..We were in search of a Farmer's Market.  The city was jam packed.  Our first stop was the City Market.  It's several blocks long and full of sweetgrass basket weavers and other craftsmen.  It is a pretty awesome market.   Just realized I didn't get very good pictures of the market.  Might have to make another trip downtown! :)
Our next stop was the harbor.  There is a beautiful river walk, amazing park and incredible houses along the park.

The city is so amazing.   I think I got some pretty nice shots of the beautiful buildings, gardens, homes, and streets.

We went back downtown on Tuesday to take in the beauty and magesty of the city one more time.  We walked the streets, visited galleries, talked to artists, had a nice lunch, and sat along the river bank and watched the sailboats sail by.  I love this town.

Our time in Charleston went much too fast, but we are anxious to be back in Hilton Head and visit with Kaye and Harold and Patty and Annie.  Stay tuned for more living.
